First Year of my Master's

It has been a year since I graduated college. I have spent the past two semesters pursuing a Master's degree in Mechanical engineering. I can say that I had the chance to experience a lot of new things, from FEA software to coding. The intensity of the classes is higher than what I was used to, but also the participation in projects and determination to finish things.

Throughout this year I was able to enter a completely new world to me, robotics. Since I graduated college, I only knew that I wanted to participate in the process of designing and manufacturing new things. Here is where I realized how much I can enjoy robotics. I was a little fresh on the coding side but thanks to my professors I was able to learn C++ and Python. Besides programing, something completely new for me was Robot Operating System (ROS). When building the robots, the integration of all of these with sensors made the difference between a toy and a robot that can sense the environment and make decisions. There are a lot of different sensors, but I got the chance to work with an Intel Realsense D455 camera and a 2D lidar. Their use will allow the robots to navigate.

In general, I have been able to work on two projects where a navigation stack was crucial. Thanks to the help of my peers and professors the projects have been able to advance. Something that I have definitely learned in the process is that any step forward is progress and only resilient people make the projects move forward. They are working with flaws which are only more opportunities for me to keep learning and expanding my expertise.
